Hi folks, I wanted to show you a little bit of the difference between a regular light bulb and an LED, especially now that LED light bulbs have decreased in price drastically over the past couple of years.
Here, I’ve got a meter. This is just a decorative lamp, but it works the way it’s supposed to.
I’m going to put in a regular 60-watt lamp. Not that you need to see my hand, I just want you to see that there’s no bulb in there right now. I don’t play any tricks here, okay?
Alright, the regular 60-watt lamp is in. Now take a look at the speed at which this dial is moving. It’s not moving really, really fast because we’re only talking about 60 watts, but you can see the speed, it’s not too fast, but it’s definitely spinning.
Now let me take it out… and of course, you can see it stops.
Now I’m going to put in an LED lamp. It gives you the same light output, say around 850 lumens. Okay, I’ll put that one in now.
Same light output, now look at the speed this dial is moving. It’s at least two-thirds slower.
The speed this spins determines the amount of your electric bill. Today’s meters are all digital, so you generally don’t have one like this anymore, but this shows the same concept:The more electricity you use, the faster it spins. The more electricity you use, the bigger your bill.
Go with the LED, you can clearly see the difference here.
Not to mention, LED bulbs are supposed to last approximately 50,000 hours, while regular light bulbs only last maybe 2,000 to 3,000 hours.
Anyway, that’s my tip for today: Go with the LED. The prices are down drastically. I think you can get two of them for like four bucks nowadays at your big box stores, where the 60-watt bulbs used to be.
Take a look, LED is the way to go.
