NEST SMOKE DETECTORS ARE AMAZING

Hey folks, Bob here. Listen, I wanted to share something that happened to me about a month or so ago. For lunch, I wanted to grab a couple of hot dogs real quick. I put them in a pot, added a couple of inches of water, that’s usually how I like my dogs, and then my ADHD kicked in.
I left the room and got involved in something else... until I was notified that the hot dogs were done.
I don’t know if this has ever happened to you, but the notification I got came from a smoke detector. Yep, the smoke detector started going off. But the reason I wanted to share this with you is not so you can cook better than me, it’s because I wanted to share how this smoke detector works.
The Nest Smoke Detector: A Game Changer
I’ve had these for a couple of years now and never even thought twice about them. They are Nest smoke detectors.
What I like about these is:
You can see that big round center thing, that’s a button.
It will silence the alarm, and you don’t need a broomstick to beat the thing, like with standard smoke detectors.
Around that button is a light ring that illuminates brightly if it’s night and you need to get out.
Smart Features You’ll Actually Use
The Nest detector:
Tests itself every month to ensure power and proper functionality.
Does not blast a loud test sound, instead, it subtly glows when you walk by in the evening, acting like a night light to illuminate the path.
Warns you with a voice: mine is set to English, and it said, “Smoke has been detected in the kitchen.”
Tells you exactly where the problem is and gives you a heads-up that the alarm is about to go off.
And let me tell you, it was loud.
Integration with Nest Thermostat
What’s really awesome is that I have Nest thermostats as well. When the smoke detector went off, it turned off my heating system. Why is that important?
If your heating system is running, it can suck the smoke and blow it throughout the house.
Worse, it can feed a fire, if there is one.
That automatic shutoff feature is a huge benefit.
Final Thoughts: Worth the Investment
I think these smoke detectors are awesome. Like I said, I’ve had them for a couple of years and never thought twice about them, until they went off.
They’re a good investment. Sure, they’re not cheap, but the way they operate makes them worth every penny. I highly recommend them.
Nest smoke detectors, combined with the Nest thermostats, can’t be beat.
