Why Price Shouldn't Be Your Only Concern

Hey folks, Bob here, Express Electric. Listen, I understand you clicked that price shopping button down at the bottom, and I don't blame you at all. It's one of the first things that I want to know, no matter what I'm purchasing or who I'm hiring, I want to know what it’s going to cost me.

I don’t blame you at all. As a matter of fact, some people say, "I don’t care what it costs!" Yeah… until you get the bill. We don’t want it to be that way.

Why We Offer Free Estimates

We want to let you know in advance how much it’s going to cost. It's one of the reasons we give free estimates, we don't want any surprises. The only surprise we want you to have is that if things go smooth, we give you a lower bill than what we quoted, rather than a higher one.

But I want to tell you upfront, if you're price shopping, there's something I want you to do before making a decision: Make sure you're comparing apples to apples.

Some people only look at price, but there’s so much more to good quality work than just that.

Look at Reviews and Reputation

I want you to look at reviews. Who are you comparing us to?

How many positive reviews do they have? We have, I don’t know, almost 700 or so on Customer Lobby. They get our reviews, we don’t touch them. We’ve got a couple hundred on Google, we’ve got some on Angie’s, some on Yelp,. We’ve got just about more 5-star reviews than any other contractor out there. And there’s a reason for that.

We Hire the Best

We hire quality people, knowledgeable people.We make sure they are certified and that they go through continuing education every single year.

When you have the best employees, they make the most money, and I’m not going to apologize for that.I have to pay a lot of money to get quality people, but I do not want to put your home and your family’s safety in the hands of someone who’s inexperienced or unqualified.

What to Ask Before Hiring

So when you're shopping price, that’s what I want you to look at. Through these videos, maybe you can see my personality, how sincere I am. But other than that, we’ve got to go by what you learn. I want you to learn more than just a price. And besides, do you really want to put your safety, your home, and your material things in the hands of the cheapest price out there? I’d be careful. I want you to look deeper. I want you to compare apples to apples.

Our Standards and Certifications

We make sure all of our employees are certified.We certify them in-house because they have to be, in order to stay working for us. They have to go through the same continuing education as the license holder.

In the state of North Carolina, only the owner of the business needs a license. Somebody needs to have a license in that company, and most of the time, it’s not the person doing the work.

So ask: Is the one coming out to your house certified?Do they have continuing education every year? Are they up on the code?

What’s the sense of somebody back in the office holding the license, and the person doing the work is the one without one? They could be pulling corn one day and wiring your house the next.
